Design in open source has a particular problem. The people building the software are rarely the people using it, and the design work happens in public, with contributors nobody hired and nobody manages.
Sustain Open Source Design is a podcast about that problem. I hosted 26 episodes across four years alongside Richard Littauer, Eriol Fox and Georgia Bullen, talking to people doing design work inside Mozilla, Grafana, Penpot, Wikibase and Outreachy about what actually works and what doesn't.
Alongside it I have spoken about design and open source at FOSDEM, and launched a company on stage at RISE Conference in Hong Kong.
This work runs across the other projects here rather than after them. It's the part where I think in public about the thing I spend the rest of my time doing.
